I’ve been meeting with lots of people this last month to share this work and talk about Bootism (the what, the why and some of the how) — the feedback has been generative and enthusiastic. The reaction to “12 Hugs and Cupcakes” in leadership alone shows me I’m onto something even bigger than I thought (but sensed), and the impact already of those integrating this into their lives and leadership practices has been pretty moving and powerful stuff.
So this retreat will be your chance to bring your “boots, 12 hugs and cupcakes” into your life and leadership in a deeper way – and I really don’t want you to miss it. Unlike other more traditional business retreats where you spend a day or two working on your vision, strategic plans, your numbers, and all things business, these two days will be spent working on YOU, as a congruent, engaged and energized leader, in your business (which, by the way, increases your leadership capacity, and ability to create impact, as you’re better able to manage your energy, communicate effectively with employees, make clearer decisions, increase engagement on multiple levels, drive stronger and more congruent strategic plans, numbers, and all things business. We’ll be making the concrete links between each of these at the retreat so that your energy and “being” as leader support your results and “doing” as leader.)
I consistently notice that the more my clients work their own inner game and lead from the “inside out”, the better their external results (both people focused and bottom line focused.) The internal game is underneath all external results. And in fact, the “higher up” you get in your role, the more important it is to be able to manage your energy, impact, and space, and “do the work.” Some of the things we’ll be working on are: how you engage people around you, what your presence is, what YOU want, what your true style is, how you manage your energy, what kind of energy you create, what “drives” you in leadership, and all sorts of stuff. In fact, as a surprise bonus, I’ve even engaged my very dear friend and colleague, Master NLP Practitioner Terry Hickey, to join us to help you get even more out of your experience. This is a BIG deal. Terry is masterful at helping people move past barriers, break through limiting beliefs, and create huge leaps and bounds using NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming.) This, integrated into what I already have planned for you, just raised the stakes and made this event even more unique and valuable.
A request? Please don’t miss this because you’re “cutting back expenses” (perhaps cut them somewhere else or sponsor yourself), or on a “training and development/travel hold” (perhaps make an opportunity out of “downtime” and take advantage of helping yourself and your people get ahead especially when everyone else is waiting*), or “golfing with your boss” (perhaps bring her/him with you – bond!), or “visiting your sister for the weekend” (just bring her!) I know there’s a lot happening right now, and I offer this all out of passion and a belief that this stuff works. This is 2 days, devoted to you, to work your game, create new space and nurture and increase your leadership capacity. Two days to work on you? Imagine! One of the folks I met with in NYC said that just the act of getting out of the norm for 2 days to reflect was worth the event alone! So consider it Summer Camp for Leaders where you’ll get to play a bit, work a bit, relax a bit, and get more done than you’d probably imagine doing this kind of work.

Being that it’s the middle of Summer and you have lots competing for your time, and given that you may still not be quite sure about “Boots, 12 Hugs and Cupcakes” and what they have to do with leadership (trust me, they have EVERYTHING to do with leadership), why should you come? Great question! I’ve created 3 lists of reasons to come, developed by myself and others who are coming, or who love Bootism. The lists will be posted shortly. Feel free to add your own reason and email it to me! (Note when I say “life” I’m referring to your business, life and leadership because it’s all ONE life – all ONE YOU.)
One last thing, and I know this note is long so if you’re still here, fantastic! (And hello high achiever! Make sure you check out the lists below.) What I notice is that everytime I do one of these events we spend a lot of time and energy promoting it, sharing the benefits, discussing concerns about the time and financial investment, and lots of other random things that often come up when someone’s considering stepping out of a comfort zone and investing in themselves. And here’s what happens – every single time – the people who make the investment say that they wish they done it sooner, they wish we’d made it a longer event, they’d love to spend more time working on themselves, they’d be well willing to invest the extra time and money, and my favorite: “Is there any way we can extend the event another day or stay later?” Everytime. In fact last Fall at the Infusion, that was the request of every single participant. Another thing that’s interesting to me is that it’s often the most hesitant to enroll who realize, once they’ve “stepped in”, that a large part of the hesitation was fear of the unknown (even though they didn’t recognize it as such and it may have masked itself as “busy-ness” or “financial” or “he needs it, I don’t” objections.) It’s a big step (with potentially very big rewards), and a definate gift to yourself. So roll with me here, you’ll be glad you did!
You can download everything you need to know about the event and the registration form right here.
